Greater Lewisville Area Soccer Association

At the ages of U4 – U6 the primary objective is to introduce children to the game of soccer and begin to teach them game fundamentals and skills. We officially do not keep score at these age groups as this is intended to be an introduction and learning experience, not a competitive situation.
We also encourage teams to NOT position any player as a Goal Keeper, to reinforce this belief we will have instituted the Goal Box rule outlined below. All four players on the field should participate in the overall attack or defense in order to work on foot skills, passing, formations and enjoyment of the game.
Sideline Policy:
A maximum of three (3) approved coaches/managers are permitted on the player sideline at any given time.
An underage coach must never be left alone with the players.
The head coach must be present at all times when players are on the sideline.

At the ages of U7 – U8 the primary objective is to continue the players understanding of foot skills, tactics and ball possession. We officially do not keep score at these age groups as this is intended to be an learning experience, not a competitive situation.
We also encourage teams to NOT position any player as a goalie, rather have all four players on the field participate in the overall attack or defense. It is fine to have have defensive positioned players, but we encourage coaches to have defenders move up to the center line while their teams are on the attack to stay involved with play.

At the ages of U9 – U10 we begin to introduce more of the actual game elements including offside, goal keepers and a larger playing surface. At these age groups we are focusing on team play from goal keeper possession and starting attacks from the defensive side of the pitch to coordinated passing and shots on goal.
Build Out Lines – When a goal keeper has position of the ball or on Goal Kicks, the attacking team must retreat behind the dashed build-out line until the ball is put into play.
Offside – at these ages offside is only called between the build-out line and the goal line.
There is no punting or drop-kicks allowed by the keeper and no heading is permitted by any player.
